Damaris earned her BS in Electrical Engineering from Florida State University and is currently in the process of obtaining her MBA. She is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in the field of Quality Engineering. Her background includes the development and deployment of Enterprise Excellence and related management systems and strategies. She has proven leadership capabilities coordinating, managing and directing projects in all business areas of manufacturing, distribution, administration, research and development and sales.
Since 1995 she has been an Enterprise Excellence quality engineer with Shaw Industries. Her responsibilities include the planning and coordination of 100 process improvement teams. Including the coordination of logistics associated to facilitator and team training. She serves as primary consultant/facilitator for process improvement teams that have achieved million dollar savings. Damaris also provides support for the development and implementation of quality systems to national and international business divisions.
Damaris is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. The Six Sigma involves many corporate initiatives to help Shaw Industries improve in products, services, and systems�diverse operations that span the entire company. Damaris� advanced skill set and dedication, her grasp of the new and complex, and her teaching abilities are all outstanding, making her indispensable in these critical Six Sigma activities. In short, her work is vital to Shaw�s bottom line. She also serves as a mentor to Black Belt candidates on project management and appropriate use of statistical tools.
Damaris has been an active member of her community for many years, when it became clear to her that the community needs were not being met by the traditional education system, she jumped in and did something most people wouldn�t attempt. She helped start a new school. She was instrumental in founding the Whitfield County Career Academy which is a charter school that provides academic instruction along with real-life skill sets students can actually start applying as they go along. The curriculum is set up to ensure students receive actual work experience while they�re learning theory. This program has helped keep students in school as well as helped them prepare to meet the needs of the workforce within Georgia.
